Mesa County GIS Viewer 2025 Update Release Notes

We are excited to introduce major upgrades and enhancements to the Mesa County GIS viewer located at https://emap.mesacounty.us/viewer. These changes will occur on April 7, 2025.

If you are interested in trying out the new viewer before it is released you can find it at https://emap.mesacounty.us/viewerbeta. The Viewer Beta site might still have a few bugs and is subject to change or downtime.

What's New

The underlying technology that has powered our map for the last 10 years is no longer supported and must be upgraded. We have taken this opportunity to also make a few enhancements to the way users interact with the map. You can read more about these changes below.

Layout

While we have tried to keep the layout of the map similar to the old one, a few things will look and act a bit differently. First you will notice there is no longer a dropdown to select a map theme. All layer functionality is now in the layers list widget (see next section). Second, side panel widgets used to push the map to the right. Now all widget panels sit on top of the map so your layout doesn't shift.

Layer List

All layers will now be available in a nested layer list widget. This will allow users to turn on and off any combination of layers or group of layers in the map. This replaces the map themes dropdown list in the old version of the viewer.

Search Bar

The search bar has been simplified. You no longer need to select the type of search you want to do. Just click your cursor in the box at the top of the map and type in your search for an address, parcel number, Assessor account number, subdivision, intersection, place name, or latitude/longitude coordinate.

Query Widget

The query widget used to be split between two tabs. One tab was for a location query and the other was for an attribute query. A separate panel would open to display query results. Now, both query types are in the same tab. The default query is location based. To add an attribute search, click on "Query with Attributes" and the attribute section opens. There is still a second tab but this now contains the query results.
